[edit] [top]The rule of the corn

Corn was considered a sacred food that came from the gods, it was rarely found in any island of the Mezkan archipelago but it was highly valued. People believed that eating corn would give you the chance to go to heaven after their death. It was so valuable that many leaders of old tribes created rules for the usage, consumption, and production of corn, but the most successful set of rules was from Hadiså Madje, one of the most distinguished tribe leaders. He said that every person belonging to his tribe should give him five kernels of corn every week. Otherwise, they would be given as food to the dogs. Hadiså's law was successful because of the enormous amount of gold and dogs he had, which scared the people. It was so successful that he created another rule, for every piece of meat that a person buys in the market, he should give the vendor 2 kernels of corn, which he will later give to Hadiså, if a vendor didn't give Hadiså a minimum of 4 kernels of corn in a day, the vendor would be set on fire. Two years later, Hadiså Madje died, he was assassinated by another tribe's leader who wanted to have all the corn that Hadiså had.
From all the different strategies that tribe leaders tried, only Hadiså's laws were successful.
Because of this, the word rule, dåmar, originated from the word corn, dama.

[edit] [top]Le Çarna

This is a creation story that the Mezkan people believe in based on the Yuantju religion:

There was nothing. So Meisa Darag created land and made grass grow on it, trees started to grow, but she was missing something, so she asked Muça Darag to fix that emptiness, she decided to create animals. She took a leaf from a tree, and transformed it into a bird, then she took a flower, and made a squirrel. She continued creating animals, but she realized that they were thirsty, so she asked Yånga Darag for help. Yånga Darag dug large holes on the ground, which he later filled with water, he made rivers and waterfalls. It started to rain, and more flowers appeared. Now there was light.
Naåreg Darag saw what was happening, so he decided to contribute too. He poured water over some sand and sculpted a human body; he then gave it life. The Earth slowly became more beautiful; there were more animals and flowers every day. Lual & Gadeal Darag saw all this happiness, and they decided to create madness, they created diseases, conflicts and more. Now the world was balanced.
It was the beginning.
