Menu 1. Adverbs Modifying Verbs 2. Adverbs Modifying Adjectives Edievian lacks (for the most part) a specific class for adverbs. There are some words that are true adverbs that correlate with many common English ones (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • umaf - never
  • presc - almost
  • aosev - on time
  • úig - already
  • nevgión - tomorrow (also used as a noun)
  • poste - a little
  • aengiún - always

These adverbs can been placed anywhere in the sentence, however they commonly precede the verb or occur at the end of the sentence.

Adverbs derived from adjectives are, in form, identical to the adjective when used to describe a verb. The adverbial meaning is glossed from the placement of the word in the sentence - immediately before the verb. For example:

    tem - fast, quickly

Ban banáis tim. Rabbits are fast. Tem lopan banáis. Rabbits run quickly.
    caev - angry, angrily
Baéis le caev tac. S/He is angry now. Caev uastaen. S/He yelled angrily.

While adverbs derived from adjectives have no change in form, when describing other adjectives, they are prefixed with do'. Do has the allomorph d' when added to an adjective that begins with a vowel or <r>.
