Now that we've learned some letters, we can form basic words.

And with these basic letters, we can form the basic sentence I am ____.
Verbs in Famast are different than in English. Word order always follows OSV.
The verbs are always literally said as 'I am [verb]'. However, when saying 'I am ___', it is literally '____ I am'.
Shui a /ʃui a/ means 'I am' and is hands-down the most used word phrase you'll use.
Try saying your name. In this example, the traditional name 'Gareth' /gaɾɛθ/ will be used.
Gareth shui a. - I am Gareth. /gaɾɛθ ʃui a/
To say 'I am good', one would say 'Good I am'.
Ma shui a. - I am good. /ma ʃui a/
To say 'I am bad' , one would say 'Bad I am'.
Dach shui a. - I am bad. /daχ ʃui a/
Got the hang of it? Now let's say where you are.
There is a thing in Famast called mutations. They are very fun ;).
The phrase 'I am in/at ___' triggers a 'long h' mutation for three different consonants [d, m, n -> ddh, mmh, nnh]
The word 'in/at' [an] is the trigger-word.
Try this sentence: 'I am in London'.
An i Lhondain shui a. - I am in London. [lit. In the London I am] /an i ɬondain ʃui a/
There's something interesting about this sentence. Did you notice the indefinite article i?
This triggers an 'h' mutation. The regular word 'Londain' means London, but when it has a definite article, like in this case, it becomes 'Lhondain'.
Try this: 'I am in the United States'
An is Dhaels Aocíashtes shui a - I am in the United States. [lit: In the States United I am] /an is ðeɪls ɔ̃ki:aʃtɛs ʃui a/
You may have noticed that due to the use of the definite article, the object isn't mutation to a 'long h'. Let's try an example.
'I am in a market'
An ammhéargaidh shui a. - I am in a market. /an am̥:a:ɾgaið ʃui a/
Notice that because it starts a word, the mmh is preceded by an a.
