Lulian uses a base-4 counting system with the following four basic numbers: yx (zero), x̣l (one), sg (two), and rz (three).

The numbers for 10, 20, and 30 (in base-4) use the same root term but lengthen the second consonant and add a -y: x̣lly (10), sggy (20), and rzzy (30). Higher numbers are formed by lengthening consonants in a particular pattern until both consonants are double-long. This method reaches to the base-4 number 333,333,333, which is 262,143 in base-10. After that other patterns are used.
