Whether the subject is a noun, a noun group or a pronoun, it always comes before the verb, and the verb takes an affix (usually an infix) denoting the person. This affix is inserted after the first letter of the verb (most of the time, "ê")
Before I start, I must also note that there is a negative prefix, which changes depending on the tense used. In the simple present, this prefix is "iw-". In the past, "ut-" will be used, while "an-" is the negative future prefix. For the moment Davrâd only has three tenses. The present tense is unmarked; the past is indicated by "-ant" and the future is marked with "-êr".
Now, here is the list of the infixes used to indicate the subject of the verb.
1st pers. sing: -la-
2nd pers. sing: -nu-
3rd pers. sing: -i-
1st pers. plur (incl.): -ka-
1st pers. plur (excl.): -u-
2nd pers. plur: -wu-
3rd pers. plur; -î-
This would probably be clearer with an example. Let’s take the root "ʔwn", from which we can form the verb "êʔwun". Here is how we would conjugate it.
Present, affirmative | Present, negative | |
---|---|---|
Ke (1st person singular) | Ke êlahwun | Ke iwêlahwun |
Ža (2nd person singular) | Ža ênuhwun | Ža iwênuhwun |
Žu (3rd person singular) | Žu êihwun | Žu iwêihwun |
Ake (1st person plural, inclusive) | Ake êkahwun | Ake iwêkahwun |
Aža (1st person plural, exclusive) | Aža êuhwun | Aža iwêuhwun |
Aku (2nd person plural) | Aku êwuhwun | Aku iwêwuhwun |
Ažu (3rd person plural) | Ažu êtîhwun | Ažu iwêtîhwun |
Now, the same verb, in the past:
Past, affirmative | Past, negative | |
---|---|---|
Ke (1st person singular) | Ke êlahwunant | Ke utêlahwun |
Ža (2nd person singular) | Ža ênuhwunant | Ža utênuhwun |
Žu (3rd person singular) | Žu êihwunant | Žu utêihwun |
Ake (1st person plural, inclusive) | Ake êkahwunant | Ake utêkahwun |
Aža (1st person plural, exclusive) | Aža êuhwunant | Aža utêuhwun |
Aku (2nd person plural) | Aku êwuhwunant | Aku utêwuhwun |
Ažu (3rd person plural) | Ažu êtîhwunant | Ažu utêtîhwun |
And in the future:
Future, affirmative | Future, negative | |
---|---|---|
Ke (1st person singular) | Ke êlahwunêr | Ke anêlahwun |
Ža (2nd person singular) | Ža ênuhwunêr | Ža anênuhwun |
Žu (3rd person singular) | Žu êihwunêr | Žu anêihwun |
Ake (1st person plural, inclusive) | Ake êkahwunêr | Ake anêkahwun |
Aža (1st person plural, exclusive) | Aža êuhwunêr | Aža anêuhwun |
Aku (2nd person plural) | Aku êwuhwunêr | Aku anêwuhwun |
Ažu (3rd person plural) | Ažu êtîhwunêr | Ažu anêtîhwun |
