The Dendapim ascribe to all nouns one of 5 genders, indicated by the preceding article and, in some cases, an infix applied to the noun.

The Five Genders are as follows:

Masculine
Feminine
Geography (Features, Category Terms and Certain Mathematical Forms)
Food (Meat and Prepared Edibles)
Synthetic (Architecture, Structures, and Ideas)

The indefinite particles are:
Masc ag
Fem eg
Geo ul
Food fen
Synth eŧ

The definite particles are:
Masc tre
Fem tru
Geo om (ul)
Food pri
Synth urj (ul)

An Example:

ag arʃa "a deer"
eg arʃa "a doe"
ul arʃa "a type of deer"
fen arʃa "venison"
eŧ arʃa ---

The use of infixes was decreasing and inconsistent even during the age of High Dendapim literature, but during the Dendapim language revival it became a mark of good breeding to keep track of the many irregular occurrences of possible infixes.

One of the five genders is held to be the "root" and is not marked by an infix, while variants of the same words may or may not receive the infix. The potential infixes are single consonants that are inserted before the vowel of a final syllable.

Masc ŧ
Fem g
Geo n
Food ʃ
Synth f

The interplay of meanings can be played with to create new words by playing with the connotations.

A traditional example from Dendapim Revival Instruction:

ag pođa "a father"
eg pođga "a chief" (man with double authority, over man and woman)
ul pođna "a home country" (fatherland)
fen pođʃa "a marrow soup roll" (traditionally prepared by and for men)
eŧ pođfa "a balcony" (a place of distinction "piano nobile")
