Learning about Mabrahoring, the so-called "Royal Tongue" of Jigoku's devils, is no simple task; finding a devil with the patience to teach a mortal their speech may as well be impossible for most, and the number of scholars in Hallien willing to engage in legitimate discourse on the subject (ie. willing to respond with anything but derision or puritanical disgust) can easily be counted on the typical mannish suite of fingers. Fortunately, I am one of these scholars, and so I will attempt to set down in writing as much as I can concerning that dread language.

Mabrahoring, which is translated literally as "Royal Speech", is a language of mathematical precision: it is exceptionally rigid and orderly, with strict verb-subject-object syntax and a labyrinthine system of declensions and conjugations. It is also somewhat difficult for non-devils to pronounce, presumably due to our lack of forked tongues and lesser pain tolerances. It is harsh - some (though not I) would say ugly - and it has many sibilants and sharp consonants. Speaking the language requires significant familiarity with its grammar and lexicon (or a thick phrase-book); otherwise one is liable to leave out some important bit of information and risk miscommunication or unintentional offense.

The script of the devils' language is called mbrnkth (Mabranikúth). It is an abjad; that is, it only marks consonant sounds, leaving it to the reader to supply vowels. As there are a great deal of words in Mabrahoring with the same consonant patterns but different vowels (and thus different meanings), this can make translating texts difficult.
