[top]Front-shifting of Focus

Requires particle 'o'

[top]Predicate Topic Marking

Mostly requires verb/particle 'cim'i' meaning "to cause" followed by topic of predicate and passive form of secondary verb:

"M'ahi hicim'i n'ipi yepinipin keo" - The man caused the apple to be hit, The man crushed the apple, The man hit the apple

Analytically, the phrase from "hicim'i" to "yepinipin" may be treated as a single verb phrase, and thus the post-verbal aspect marker "keo" is placed after the entire phrase.

This has the connotation of the agent causing a fundamental change of state to the patient. That is, in this example, the man has caused the apple to deform as a result of the hitting (hence, the man crushed the apple).
