Menu 1. Etymology 2. General overview 3. Example text 4. Vowels 5. Consonants 6. Special ligatures  Laefêvëši (outdated) has several native scripts. There are two vertical and one horizontal script. They are all written in the left-to-right direction. The horizontal script is known as saosién Saosién or "leaf writing". One of the vertical scripts is known as eamsién Eamsién or "stone writing". This article deals with the most commonly used vertical script, known as áoisieṇ Aoisién or "rain writing" (literally "drop writing")

[edit] [top]Etymology

The name of the script is Aoisién, which is derived from the word aói aói "(rain)drop" and the root sié(n)- sié(n)- "write". The script is so named because of its appearance.

[edit] [top]General overview

Aoisién is a full alphabet with separate letters for consonants and vowels. Contrary to the horizontal script (Saosién), however , Aoisién does not have uppercase and lowercase letters. Instead of that, its letters change shape depending on the relative position within a word. A single letter can have up to four letterforms: initial, medial, final, and isolated. Isolated letterforms are limited to vowels only, and not every consonant has a final form either (because some of them do not occur word-finally natively).

Unlike the horizontal script, Aoisién does not distinguish between stressed or long vowels and short vowels. There are also some ligatures.

@[Deactivated User] Yes, I am making a font for it (slowly) but eventually I will make an article on that script as well.

will you ever do an article on the stone writing (Eamsién script)? it looks pretty cool.
