Noilgi is a Ffilikan language native to the Zhameku desert. It is spoken by the Moì people. It is one of the official languages of the Mimoffo Empire.
Note: years will be labled as YA == years ago, I haven't quite figured out a calendar for this world yet, if/when I make one it'll refer to those dates here
1000 YA: Consonants become voiced between /i/. Desert Ffilikan starts to diverge from Proto Ffilikan.
950 YA: The Moì begin to migrate further north, going up to the northern edge of the Zhameku.
900 YA: /i/ is lost between plosives and fricatives, in that order. Duplicate vowels are removed. All vowels begin to get a mid tone.
850 YA: Tonogenesis has begun. Rising and falling tones now exist from what used to be /ʃ/ and plosives.
750 YA: /ɸ/ and /β/ turn into /f/ and /v/, thus merging the two together.
650 YA: /u/ is introduced between plosives and affricates. Nasals mutate depending on what sound is next. Voiced velar and uvular fricatives are lost.
600 YA: Voiceless uvular fricatives turn into velar fricatives.
500 YA: Voiced uvular stops become unvoiced. Noilgi diverges from Desert Ffilikan.
400 YA: /k/ is now /t/ after o. Consonants become voiceless at the end of words.
300 YA: /l/ becomes /j/ after o. /j/ becomes /i/ at the end of words.
200 YA: /i/ becomes /ɪ/ before approximates or nasals.
100 YA: Vowels are removed from most ends of words.
50 YA: Affricates become de-affricated at the end of words ✎ Edit Article ✖ Delete Article
