Menu 1. Other articles How do the Nolwynn respond to sneezing?

Sneezing is said to be a response similar to being tickled. Since tickling is something people do to close loved ones, sneezing is felt to be evidence that a loved one is near - either physically or in spirit. The loved one may be a future spouse, a deceased relative, or a friend away on a hunting trip. Since it implies that someone who loves you is thinking of you, sneezing is considered a good omen. Further, in traditional Nolwynn medicine, sneezing is viewed as a way for the body to rid itself of pollutants or toxins; thus, it is a mechanism for helping to ensure health. The spirits of close loved ones are said to attempt to help heal the sick, especially via sneezing or other things.

If someone sneezes near you, the correct response is:

Imá erolera ona!
A soulmate* is near!

The person who sneezed may say,

Txa ona!
Hopefully [s/he is] near!

*erolera does not necessarily mean a romantic soulmate. The term is used for anyone with whom you share a very close bond

Sneezing is written as éysxonu or éysoo, while éysxonu/éysoo zalteey means "to sneeze."
