A day on Origin in the region where Sanguine Rythulian is spoken is punctuated by an eclipse caused by Ńana centred around noon. As a result, the day is split into 4 segments: morning (apikońa), occultation (opasoli), evening (piko), and night (ipasa). There is no midday/afternoon. Throughout the day, 2 meals are eaten, one just before sunrise and one towards the end of the occultation. Sleep occurs during night, as usual, and during the occultation, time is taken to relax and pray. Work occurs during the morning and evening.

One rotation of Ńana and Origin is called an aniwa, and is the equivalent of 0.37 Earth days, or 8.8 Earth hours. One revolution around Apisa is the koniwaki, and lasts 387.75 aniwa, 142.175 Earth days, or 0.39 Earth years.

The koniwaki is split into 6 kimiwa of 64 aniwa, and each kimiwa is further divided into 8 limi of 8 aniwa. The first 3 kimiwa of the year have an additional aniwa at the start, which doesn’t fall under any limi, and is referred to as kińowani. Additionally, 3 out of every 4 years, the third month has a second kińowani immediately following the first.

The day is considered to start at sunrise, and is split into 8 uneven aniki. The first two aniki, known as the ńa ala apikońa aniki and jasi ala apikońa aniki, comprise the morning. The daily eclipse, lasting about 52.5 Earth minutes, is referred to as the opasoli aniki. After that, there are two aniki until the sun sets, known as the ńa ala piko aniki and jasi ala piko aniki. Finally, between sunset and sunrise, there are 3 more aniki, known as ńa ala ipasa aniki, jasi ala ipasa aniki, and ika ala ipasa aniki. Since these names are quite bulky, just like how hours in English can just be the number, each hour can be referred to solely by its number and time of day, becoming ńa apikona, jasi apikońa, opasoli, ńa piko, jasi piko, ńa ipasa, jasi ipasa, ika ipasa.

An aniki can be subdivided into wiki, and the wiki can be further split into 36 mo. A mo lasts barely longer than 2 Earth seconds, and is about average length of a bovine moo. The number of wiki in an aniki varies, though once timekeeping progresses to a point where clocks exist, the timekeeping will go as follows:

1 aniwa : 12 aniki
1 aniki : 36 wiki : 1296 mo
1 wiki : 36 mo

However, seeing as the inhabitants of the Sanguine Dunes are currently still in the Bronze Age, Sanguine Rythulian will be loooong dead by the time a regular, standardized time system is in place.

In summary, here is a list of time terms, their Earth analogues, and their lengths in comparison to said Earth analogues:

koniwaki - year - 0.39 Earth years - 6 kimiwa
kimiwa - month - ~24 Earth days (varies) - 8 limi plus 0, 1, or 2 aniwa
limi - week - 2.96 Earth days - 8 aniwa
aniwa - day - 0.37 Earth days
aniki - hour - ~1 Earth hour (varies quite a bit)
wiki - minute - 1.4 Earth minutes - 36 mo
mo - second - 2.06 Earth seconds
