The proper way to use the name of someone you're talking to is mi(name)(honorific suffix), literally meaning "you are (name) who is (social level) in comparison to me", but the initial mi is commonly dropped. The honorifics are listed below. In order to reduce confusion with names, a glottal stop is inserted between the name and the honorific.

namla - highly formal
sara - formal
kan - equal (somewhat formal)
mis - colloquial/friendly
isti - insulting

Questions are formed by making a declarative statement and adding the particle tāi at the end of the sentence, usually combined with rising tone. Negatives are formed with the particle ma.

In order to intensify a word (usually an adjective), one reduplicates the final syllable. kemeī = "cute", kemeīmeī = very cute. kleim = "walk", kleimkleim = "walk fast/run".
