Menu 1. Cafelia - Currency/Economy
[edit] [top]Cafelia - Currency/Economy

The Cafelian republic has an economy centred around the Cafelian Pound or the Nǒclar Ciufelsar. The currency itself is represented by 2 different systems. The first one is the one used in the Angerian script, which uses the Angerian "n" [n] followed by the number. The second one is used in certain counties and in transcriptions of the Angerian script, it has 2 symbols with the first one being used with full pounds and the other being used with "cents" or "Żebi" as they're actually called.
The full pound symbol is "F$" while the Żebi symbol is "c". In this article ill use the second system to make it look neater. F$1 is equal to $0.28 and makes $1 equivalent to about F$3.54. 100c equal F$1. The legal working age in Cafelia ranges between 14 and 16, all depending on which regions you are in. The minimum wage also varies, depending on what band you fall in. your "Band" is determined by your age, and each band is entitled to different benefits which can be introduced based on an individuals circumstances. For example, Band 1, which contains people aged between 14-16. This means in some states you'll stay Band 1 for 2-3 years while in some Band 1 doesnt even exist. Parents are legally required to keep you in their house until ones 16th birthday. If for whatever reason the parents are unable to keep the child, or the child themselves request it, the child can "live on their own". This means that the child, which must be over 14, has their own house provided by the government and can work up to Band 2 standards. The Minimum wage for Band 1 is F$25/hr and the maximum hours are 16 a week, with 2 hours a day being aloud during the school week and workers are required by law to have 1 day a week with no work. For example, lets say a 14 year old is getting paid F$26/hr and is working the full 16 hours a week. In a week, this person would have F$416, equivalent to £86.96 or $117.51. If this person was getting paid 4-weekly then this person would be getting F$1664, or $470/£347.84 which is not a bad wage at all for someone under 16.

There are 2 other bands are band 2, which is 16-18 and band 3 which is 18 and up. The minimum wage for band 2 is F$35/hr and the maximum hours per week is 24 and the minimum wage for band 3 is F$40/hr, with the maximum hours being 65 hours. Despite this being the minimum wage, most jobs that require certain skills pay much higher. For an example, lets look at someone who works 5hrs a day, all week except for sunday as a cleaner and makes F$50/hr. This person, lets call them Segen, doesnt get any benefits, gets paid 4-weekly and is in band 3. Here are his expenses:

Segen's Month

Total to spend = F$6000

Electricity (2,000kWh), (20c/kWh)F$400
Gas (800kWh), (15c/kWh)F$120
