The people who speak Sanguine Rythulian call themselves jani (The People). Although they are completely different from humans, the entire biosphere has ( miraculously ;) ) convergent evolution'd them to be extremely similar to Earth in most aspects. The same holds true for the jani (and the other races that inhabit Ńana and Origin, though they have not yet been explored). However, there are a few differences that set them jani apart from humans.

The most noticeable difference is the difference in skin tone. As a sort of camouflage to blend in with the iron-rich soils and sands of the Sanguine Dunes, most jani have dark red skin. There is variation the further you travel, but in general, most jani's skin tone would fall somewhere within this image:

The second most noticeable difference is the presence of horns. From birth, jani have two horns protruding from either side of their head above the ear, and are slightly darker than their skin tone. These horns vary in shape and size, though typically they grow about 30cm long at most. It is common for jani to paint or adorn their horns as decoration.

Thirdly, jani all have polydactyly, with 6 digits on each hand/foot. The sixth finger is between the middle and ring fingers, and is slightly longer than the index or ring fingers but shorter than the middle.

Their hair is generally a similar but darker colour to their skin, typically being a dark, desaturated red. However, brown and black hair are not unheard of, and although it is very rare, communities with predominantly black hair may occasionally bear a child with dark blue hair. Similarly, communities with lighter red or brown hair may foster a child with vibrant red or caramel coloured hair.
The spectrum of hair looks something like this:

Additionally, jani are completely hairless apart from their head, and do not grow facial hair.

Due to high gravity, the bones of jani are thicker than humans, though they typically stand slightly taller than humans. (~5'11" average)

The eye colour of jani varies much more than skin or hair, typically being golden, orange, red, magenta, purple, or blue. Eye colour tends to be more vibrant than skin or hair.

Lastly, there are four physical sexes among jani, but that will be described in another article.
