Evolution of the Q

[comments] The unvoiced uvular plosive works in a mystery. There are only certain locations in a word it can exist in. In Proto Yeli-Hakkan, it is said that the plosive evolved from a creaky glottal stop, which can only exist at the end of words in between certain vowels. Words such as man or noʔ became noq and this later became the foundation for creating words and compound words that are related to humans or people in general. Compare Modern Yeli tʃoq and Hakkanic noqso to mean part or component.

In Hakkanic, the sound remained and it became more frequent in use than in its predecessor. The word for because evolved, because you needed reason to support your previous statement, which is the literal word for because. In this case qoxeye which means real or serious becomes qowoxeno and in its adverbial state qowoxene. This is rather unsual because qoxeye is in itself a corrupton of Proto-Yeli-Hakkan heq which means reality, or reason, which lead to Pre-Classical High Yeli, weʀ.

In short, the unvoiced uvular plosive gained traction in the Southern Proto-Yeli-Hakkan dialects, whereas in the northern areas the sound was starting to decline and evolved into ʀ.
