Take the infinitive of the verb and place "eg" in front of it i.e Bím eg rá=I am speakingWhile this construction implies simple and progressive simultneously, it is more often than not used for progressive actions such as above "I am speaking (now and doing so continually)" which differs from the construction "ráiam" which means "I speak", that being stative and simple. This is not to imply that the second construction replaces the passive voice because it does not, the passive voice is still used for general statements or when the subject is not known.
An older form is using gerunds, in Dírma these take the form of 'ge INFInfinitive (TAM)
non-tensed verb' which in the earlier example would directly translate to 'I am (the) speaking' but not in the sense that I am the same as speaking, a proper translation to English would be I'm speaking. This construction is not very common but does crop up sometimes though its already sparse use is continuing to dwindle.
