The first major development in the Barshigas branch is that the simple pitch accent of Proto-Wibbayuric starts to develop into a stress accent, with the high-toned syllables becoming stressed. The first result of this is that the sometimes unwieldy vowel sequences that are the unfortunate consequence of back-derivation are simplified. The first two steps in this process are that sequences of two like vowels become one stressed vowel, and unstressed /i/ and /u/ between vowels become /j/ and /w/ respectively.

ğufuú /ɢu˩fuu˥/ → ğufú /ɢuˈfu/
tuumúl /t̪uu˩mul˥/ → túmùl /ˈt̪uˌmul/ (initial stress becomes primary)

saíhaiang /sai˥hai˩aŋ˩/ → saíhayang /ˈsai.ha.jaŋ/ "you carry out"
saíhaii /sai˥hai˩i˩/ → saíhayi /ˈsai.ha.ji/ "I carry out"
saíhaikiiaú /sai˥hai˩kii˩au˥/ → saíhaikiyaù /ˈsai.hai.kiˌjau/ "we have carried out"

The next step, which I think is the defining characteristic for vowels in this branch, is a split in the quality between stressed and unstressed vowels, with unstressed /a i u/ becoming /ə e o/ respectively when not adjacent to other vowels:

turuábhaku /t̪u.rua.bʱa.ku/ → toruábhako /t̪oˈrua.bʱə.ko/ "an alphabet"
saíhaii /sai.hai.i/ → saíhaye /ˈsai.hə.je/ "I carry out"
údhaiur /u.d̪ʱai.ur/ → údhayor /ˈu.d̪ʱə.jor/ "it precipitates"
mumúgkium /mu.mug.kium/ → momúgkiom /moˈmug.kiom/ "she has determined (it)"
ghu'í /gʱu.ʔi/ → gho'í /gʱoˈʔi/ "who"
ğibachút /ɢi.ba.t͡ʃut/→ ğebachút /ɢe.bəˈt͡ʃut/ "the net"

Sequences of /i/ and /u/ become /oi/ and /io/, and this includes even stressed vowels:

bhámiu /bʱa.miu/ → bhámio /ˈbʱa.mio/ "a root"
quilút /qui.lut̪/ → qoilút /qoiˈlut̪/
yugiú /ju.giu/ → yogió /jogio/
duíli /d̪ui.li/ → doíle /ˈd̪oi.le/ "I curtail (it)"

ghií /gʱii/ → ghí /ˈgʱi/
ghiúr /gʱiur/ → ghiór /ˈgʱior/
ghikií /gʱi.kii/ → ghekí /gʱeˈki/
ghiiáu /gʱi.ia.u/ → gheyaú /gʱeˈjau/

The remaining diphthongs will be handled differently in the various descendants of Barshigas.

As far as consonants are concerned, the voiced plosives I think will get turned into voiced fricatives, while the breathy voiced plosives will replace them as regular voiced plosives (the affricates /t͡ʃ d͡ʒ/ will stay put).

/b d ɡ/ and /bʱ dʱ ɡʱ/ become /v z ɣ/ respectively.
/q/ merges with /k/ and /ɢ/ merges with /ɣ/, while /ʔ/ just disappears entirely.
/ɲ/ merges with /j/

turuábhaku /t̪u.rua.bʱa.ku/ → toruábako /t̪oˈrua.bə.ko/ "an alphabet"
údhaiur /u.d̪ʱai.ur/ → údayor /ˈu.d̪ə.jor/ "it precipitates"
quilút /qui.lut̪/ → koilút /koiˈlut̪/
yugiú /ju.giu/ → yoğió /joˈɣio/ "
ghu'í /gʱu.ʔi/ → goí /ˈgoi/ "who"
duíli /d̪ui.li/ → zoíle /ˈzoi.le/ "I curtail (it)"
ğibachút /ɢi.ba.t͡ʃut/ → ğevachút /ɣe.vəˈt͡ʃut/ "the net"
ñíqum /ɲi.qum/ → yíkom /ˈji.kom/ "a nose"
ngawíñu /ŋa.wi.ɲu/ → ngawíyo /ŋəˈwi.jo/ "a brain"
