É-kigal-enlil-na, za'aššu teš-illi-n šer?Temple of the Lord of Winds, what is like you?
É-elegallam-egir-isna, za'aššu teš-illi-n šer?
Temple of the Ruler of the Upper Sea, what is like you?
Illi-na, nin eger-gi e-taŋgu abtunal, za'aššu illi-su ibtuzig?
O you that houses the Blue God, what compares to you?
Geš-nanna (1 10) igar idu-kikal-a illi-entukur-gu šeŋ,
70 igar on every side is your width;
Linna-ussun-geš-elna (48 20) agu illi-arzag̃u šeŋ,
2,900 (~~4,900 / 1.6886, don't ask what 1.6886 is) agu is your base;
É-šu zanzan-ši karkuššu-tu Uz šer,
The Temple is longer than the gates of Uz,
É-šu zanzan-ši idu-zumummu-tu Iliku šer,
The Temple is longer than all the river-boats of Iliku,
É-šu egiregir-ši e-tubbattu Bad-Durgal šer,
The Temple is higher than the walls of Bad-Durgal,
Uru-ganummu kakkanag-e e-lelaz-gu Ḵišši-gissar šeŋ,
The columns of the main hall are the sceptre of Ḵišši-gissar,
Ger gil-a aruḵḵu-bu aŋ iŋkamatallu,
In the altar room the dried reeds of the sun are counted,
ereŋ-ši teš-Dide-n Mul-lu šeŋ;
it is spacious like the Darkness of Stars;
Ger gil-a Šannaŋ elkub-gi e-giš-gu Aḵḵu adadallu,
In the altar room Šannaŋ has borne the second house of Aḵḵu,
Igigar-šu in idu-lamase-n Ura tia.
There is a buttress for every pylon of Ura.
Izišu ara erkud-nu tia,
There is a sea upon the blood-stone;
uri-gi niŋiz-gu agar Badda-zuz akullaš.
such treasure has a merchant of Teišana not procured.
En-na Kigal-é-na
En, Lord of the Temple,
E-kedanna [=e-(e)kedar-na] gil, E-kedanna ganummu,
Steward of the altar room, Steward of the columns,
Innada-na igigarar, é-šu adab-ši šer-az, ea-ša?
Judge of the buttresses, is the temple not worthy?
Din-na, ib-na An-ḵeš-iki,
You, son of An the Allfather,
Din-na, nin-papa e-Šumuttubbar-gu kakulu,
You, whose hands have wrought the walls of Šumut,
Din-na, nin-metsad u-muzur-gu Enki-Tuš urutallu,
You, whose word established the kingship of Enki-Tuš,
i u-šatar-adir-gu Enki-Tuš lušallu,
and justified the Code of Enki-Tuš,
Din-na, nin meŋgu gal,
You, who brings the storm,
Din-na, nin azdada-gu ninu-ziz-lu ukun,
You, who caused the enemy to flee before you,
Din-na, nin e-nigilgal-gu Nilgun šen-lu,
You, who received the offering of Nilgun,
Din-na, nin Nig̃al-gu p̄agagzad-a innallu,
You, who judged Niŋgal in want,
Din-na, nin idu-baš-gu eḵel-kit mudab,
You, who covers the whole expanse of red,
i me'a u-baš kiz-gu aŋtu, ahan din-šu gagal, é-šu adab-ši šer-az, ea-ša?
and when the expanses ends, yet you continue, is the temple not worthy?
Zi-alariturzu-a uruggu-šu tia, zi-kakkanag-bu ta (ugud) miššannu abga,
At its entrance are bulls, its hall is protected by horned-ones,
Him-šu zi-ezun tia-az, i sutu-ši lamhirim-šu zi-tibir-a?
is there not a hero in its midst, and a strong man of war at the roof-shrine?
U-bur Arin e-burgulzu-gu idu-gišp̄ar-Eken šeŋ,
The wine of Arin is the wine-chamber of every palace of the Eken,
e-er idu-lam-gu Eken-Para šeŋ
the blood is every man of Eken-Para,
e-šeg geš ener-gu Dagan gul,
the beer supplies 60 years of Dagan,
e-šeg egiri-uššugu Meg̃el-Nur šeŋ,
the beer is the wheat fields of Meg̃el-Nur,
e-šeg egiri-dug̃u Uz šeŋ.
the beer is the barley fields of Uz.
Zi ara utu-ni aš-nu diŋ, i e-ḵeš-er-bu ninu-iš;
It stands upon the great earth, and the primordial blood is made fresh water;
Alar en-nu zi utu-gi aš-gu la étallamma-nu enp̄ar šeŋ,
In the sky it is the great earth for the builders of heaven,
Zi-igigarar-šu teš-ganummu-n ašar šer,
its buttresses are like the pillars of the earth,
Zi-karkuš-a dua uru-šatarar-bu gerua'al,
in its gate the seven codes are inscribed,
Zi-ebza-a adiri-bu gul,
in its bolt the laws are kept,
Babba-šu alar ašp̄adda-nu ishab e-geneš-en šer,
willows are upon the borders by the canal,
i e-se-bu eŋ ablil-nu šišal;
and the way is lined with dragon blood trees;
É-zigagbar, zi e-tan-zigagbar adabat-az, ea-ša?
the temple without equal, does it not befit the god without equal?
Araššu teš-(tan)En-nu šer, niŋ-su u-zukum-šu ninu-ahanni?
Who is like En, for whom the inner chamber opens?
Zibu En-su suballu, nizišu alar u-nakab-nu lug,
For En it is made, who sits upon the pedestal,
i nin-anšar-šu dubkul,
and whose back is shining;
e-nimmuhamam egud-gu da'el,
the hamam priest pours the skimmed water,
e-nimmu'uše er-gu muše,
the uše priest measures out the blood,
bur e-zabitum-a tia; zibu ta e-nimmugiŋgiggal-nu deballu;
there is wine in the basin; it was placed giŋgiggal priest;
e-nigib e-šeg-gu alar aš-nu da'el;
the high priest pours the beer on the earth;
Iziš-a tašša-attu zibu ma.
It is done in the midst of the attu-boxes.
Nigilgal-bu ma, niŋ-ku-a u-tum-bu lagal,
When the offering is made the ram-horn is brought forth,
akka ḵatu-bu e-gil-a ša;
the sound of battle is heard in the altar-room;
šebalaŋ-ši ele-ḵuru tigaš-šu alar tašša-attu-nu eŋku;
the fallen spirits of war enter into the attu-boxes;
Iŋi-bu ta ḵatu Daŋbad-nu šir;
they are filled with the battle of Daŋbad;
Za'arma-ši annuŋar-šu im annuŋ Ennu šeballu!
How many mighty ones have fallen before the might of En!
Din-na, nin-šu ab Egir-Dide-nu lug,
You, who sits above Egir Dide,
Din-na, nin sibbi-gu ninu-alallu
You, confined the banks of the Eken,
Din-na, nin uŋ er-gu uḵḵulu, ahan er-ḵit-šu ara din-ganinnu tiraz, za'annug̃alaŋ igi-tan-šu šer!
You, who drew three bloods, yet there is no red upon your cloak, how powerful is our god!
Za'annug̃alaŋ En Šumuttan-šu šer!
