The letters 'i' 'u' and 'a' cause the letter before them, when in a legal string, to be 'softened', 'narrowed' or 'lengthened' respectively.
I-softening: The letter 'j' is added to the onset: *sexi -> sexji. When this is not possible due to a combination of letter not resulting in a legible string, e.g.: 'sexci', nothing happens.
U-narrowing: The letter 'w' is added to the onset: *sexu -> sexwu. When this is not possible due to a combination of letter not resulting in a legible string, e.g.: 'sexcu', nothing happens.
A-lengthening: The letter 'h' is added to the onset: *sexa -> sexha. When this is not possible due to a combination of letter not resulting in a legible string, e.g.: 'sexca', nothing happens.
Note: these do affect pronunciation, it is not just cosmetic. ✎ Edit Article ✖ Delete Article
