The Ghibalbian (Ghebāllbakȳra) (IPA: ɣe̞bɑ:l:bɑky:ɾɑ) or Vespan language (Vēspakȳra) (IPA: ve̞:spɑky:ɾɑ) is the original language of the Ghibalbian Empire and the lingua franca of the Covenant that preceded it. It is the mother of the varied Xeno-Ghibalbian languages and part of the Central Vegaran languages of Ghēba. Ghibalbian is an agglutinative language with twenty-one grammatical cases and an intricate verbal conjugation, along with a wide number of vowels and consonants, plus phonemic tones. Its’ history spans approximately 106,000 years.
Ghibalbian went extinct for over 100,000 years to the knowledge of UCE linguists after the first Legrian-Human War (96,500 BCE-93,201 BCE), in which the Legrians were victorious temporarily before the Avengers destroyed their colonies. It spontaneously re-emerged in the Andromeda galaxy as the Vespan language in the early 5th millennium BC, and was rediscovered on Earth in the 2030s by the Green Worlders; over a century later it was promulgated across the Sol System, evolving into New Ghibalbian, while Vespan became a lingua franca in its’ region of Andromeda.
