It may seem strange to live your life without any night. But this is exactly how the Alfeme dragons live each and every month of their lives. They live on an eyeball world with a huge central desert that is yet to be explored, on an archipelago 3/4 of the way to the terminator. Due to their equatorial position, the planet's giant comet moon Maci always passes in front of its star Letvaf every 100 hours. This is often seen as a time of reflection, and one of the few times when the Alfeme can get any rest.

Letvaf is often thought of as the all-seeing eye, watching every move the Alfeme make and is often who people pray to for spiritual guidance. Maci is seen as another god; one that was exiled from its position with Letvaf and is thus being driven away. Funerals are always water burials, which are only held when Maci is in the half-moon phase, as this is traditionally held to be when Maci accepts her dead, which will then be given to Letvaf upon the next eclipse.

There are three other inward planets from Meleti: Famalne, Cexete, and Santal. They are only truly seen during eclipses, but occasionally they transit the star as well. They are mythologically Letvaf's advisors, and those who keep him from hurting Maci too much. Three other planets can occasionally be seen: Taño, Elfano, and Lampi. These are the spectators of the long battle between Letvaf and Maci, and thus are seen as counterparts to Famalne, Cescete, and Santal.

In Alfoma's capital, Tolapan, rules the Jog. The Jog (lit. "rule") is seen as appointed by both Letvaf and Maci to help keep the peace while in his prime. He, usually the previous Jog's eldest son, claims his power upon his father's death. Usually, the current Jog drinks a cup of poison after he has lived for 200 years (~43.8 Earth years; ~2,200 lunations of Maci), to ensure that he does not live past his prime and that there is some form of societal change.

However, Jog Lelfe, who violently overthrow Jog Poleca at the age of about instead ensured that he would live beyond the prime age to maintain his power, and was instead killed in a tsunami. A power vacuum was created in his stead, and he sent one of his twin sons on a mission to the city of Cexexan. His funeral is to be held when Maci is half-shadowed again, at which point his son Sisa Lelfe is expected to take the crown.
