High Dlangbu ("ngwɛmiʔa thi" ["high speech"], also called "ngwɛmiʔa takhunmi" ["book speech"]) is a dialect of Dlangbu used for religious and literary use. The dialect retains certain words from Old Dlangbu and its VSO word order.
Grammatical Differences
- Use of animacy indicators
ngam - inanimate singular
ngé - inanimate plural
nyi - animate singular
nyɛn - animate plural
ex:
Standard Dlangbu: Khori takhunʔa ke (I saw the stick)
High Dlangbu: Khori ke ngam takhunʔa
Standard Dlangbu: Khori a takhunʔa ke (I saw the sticks)
High Dlangbu: Khori ke ngé takhunʔa
Standard Dlangbu: Khori waraʔa ke (I saw the man)
High Dlangbu: Khori ke nyi waraʔa
Standard Dlangbu: Khori a waraʔa ke (I saw the men)
High Dlangbu: Khori ke nyɛn waraʔa
- Use of honorific affixes to verbs to show respect or politeness when using first or second person pronouns
wan-/wam- - respectful (male)
ɛ- - respectful (female)
ngan wan-/wam- - priest/noble caste male
ngan ɛ- - priest/noble caste female
mo- - god/goddess (prayer)

Standard Dlangbu: Kɔsiri takhunʔa no (You took the stick)
High Dlangbu:
- Wankɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (respectful, male addressee)
- Ɛkɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (respectful, female addressee)
- Ngan wankɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (priest/noble addressee)
- Ngan ɛkɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (priest/noble addressee)
- Mokɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (prayer)
Negatives formed prefixing affix to verb sé, preceding negative verb
ex:
Standard Dlangbu: Ḿkɔsiri takhunʔa no (You didn't take the stick)
High Dlangbu:
- Wansé ḿkɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (respectful, male addressee)
- Ɛnsé ḿkɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (respectful, female addressee)
- Ngan wansé ḿkɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (priest/noble addressee)
- Ngan ɛnsé ḿkɔsiri no ngam takhunʔa (priest/noble addressee)
