Peanut aliens use a lot of digital transactions and checks (especially for large amounts) but they also use physical coins and banknotes:

Semi-opaque, UV reactive polycarbonate with scratch-resistant coating. The gold holo film obscures some magnetic security features but for the most part there are few security features and the opaque iridescent and holographic films serve mostly aesthetic purposes. (+increase readability)

Polymer banknotes made of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP). Includes security features such as an iridescent security strip on the two largest denominations, optically variably ink, holographic seals, UV reactive ink, metallic ink, and metameric ink.

More images, including closeups and UV markings, can be found here: link and here: link.

As far as conversion rate... 100 dasǎg is equal to 64 US cents.

For a fun and good time, here is the original design I made for their currency:

Parts still apply--like the proto-currency, and the fact that there are special holders you can stack coins and banknotes on, and that coins are often kept on strings (there's a reason for those holes.)
