- Clespix/Calespin originally came from Tara Gillesbie, pen name of the author of My Immortal- also btw this doesnt really get touched on with regards to the conlang, but the sole remaining pre-colonization piece of literature rediscovered in the Boden renaissance was My Immortal*, so it's thought of as like a weird classical era cultural epic, like the Odyssey to modern people (or the Aeneid might be more accurate given the Sueish main character)
* aka "Ram Dashapannin" - "Story of an Immortal". It should actually be "dashapannoin" in modern Bodin, and "dashapannin" would actually mean "one without peace" (panno = death/end, panni = peace), but this was one of the first phrases I came up with, so it's kind of stuck now.
- the whole system was originally made up for a space AU involving some parody-sue OCs and kind of got...out of control...
- about 80% of the vocabulary is stolen from Lojban (either individual gismu, or a nonce compound of several different Lojban rafsi) and deformed to fit Bodin phonology
- (everything that isn't from lojban is straight from wordgen 2.0, with the sole exception of the planet name Boden, which i stole from the german for "floor")
- "smash" = "silence", this was not on purpose but once i realized it had to be like that it was funny
- "man" = "bad", ditto
- "bikhra" = "to be born" comes from an old compounding of "bikhe" = "to begin" and "re" = "two" because Bodin almost always have twins. actually the word for single child (khaprans) means "half-twinset", they're that rare ✎ Edit Article ✖ Delete Article
