About Canaanite Canaanite is a modern-day descendant of Phoenician spoken in the Republic of New Canaan (OTL Lebanon, north of Israel, pieces of Syria and Jordan). Its orthography was greatly inspired by Goidelic languages such as Irish and Scottish Gaelic for reasons I'm too lazy to explain just roll with it

Grammatical features
  • Fossilised orthography in true Gaelic fashion
  • Three types of initial mutation (lenition, eclipsis, fortition)
  • Possessive pronoun suffixes on nouns (e.g. acha 'sister' → acha 'your (masc.) sister')
  • Verbs built on triconsonantal roots (e.g. cadól 'to kill' → cadalnú 'we killed', iagdal 'I kill') and nouns using construct case instead of genitive (e.g. rosaímh 'heads' → roisé cochanaímh 'heads of priests') in true Semitic fashion
  • Sample of Canaanite[view] Iadhbar ainc a-Chanáiní.
