About Cialoterranno
A Franco-Iberian, almost Italian tongue. Born after the fall of the Roman Empire and gradually modernization of Europe, Castean (then Northern Catalonia) grew as an independent nation. Under Charlemagne's rule, immigrants from the Lombards moved to Portu di Salvator and changed the language there drastically. Later the French Empire "reclaimed" Castean, changed many aspects of the language as well. Suddenly "e's" were silent, "ch" was pronounced "sh", and any verb that ended in -er in the infinitive, changed to an "ē" sound (voler [to want] - volē.) All the while Spanish and Catalan helped influence the language too. And in the 1400's, Castean, rather than joining Spain and Portugal in the New World, decided to strike Africa, while the Caliphate was still recovering from the Reconquestia.
