About Hesshian Hesshian is a Suzeric language spoken by around forty one million people mostly in the Hessh Republic and just outside its borders. The language has been very influential in the world and Hesshian and Hesshian culture have created many Hesshianate societies. Although presented here in a latin script the language is written natively in the Hesshian Abugida. This script is often used for calligraphy due to its flowing lines.
The language came about as a result of the invasions of the Suzers. They brought their language (Suzeric) to the new conquered lands where it quickly began to diversify into various dialects and then languages. Hesshian comes from the Central Suzeric branch of the family tree and is known for being relatively conservative and preserving many Suzeric features such as a 5th person, durative and debitive moods and similative and origin cases. The other major Suzeric languages are Jaranak, Qešquri, Dzanaj, Paračak, Mesdurāni and Tarbānê. All of these are official state languages save for Tarbānê which is spoken in Thaawayoke.
The language is replete with dialects (as any language with 41 million speakers would be). The dialect presented here is the standard literary dialect of Ašχarat (the capital) and Ašχarudum province.
Some key features of the language are:
-> noun genders (masculine and feminine)
-> 14 noun cases, 8 moods/aspects and 9 tenses
-> free word order although it typically favours SVO/VSO
-> a fifth person
-> the locative case is used for temporal expressions
-> a rich conworld to provide a background, however most of the conworld stuff is hidden, you've got to search for it :P
The real life inspiration for Hesshian came from Farsi, Latin/the Romance languages and Hittite. In fact the language came about as a bad Hittite reflex

[edit] [view] Gošgeridānyeni (Gošgeridān Province Dialect )The Gošgeridān Dialect is used in the Gošgeridān Province. This province is the largest province in Hesshia but it is also one of the poorest. This has resulted in the dialect becoming a source of derision and it being looked down upon. As a result it is dying off. Linguistically it preserves some old Hesshian sounds and features now lost in the standard language and it also has been influenced by the many other languages of the province such as Chinku and Alabayi.
