You have arrived to the page about Prong!
A Ewe/Gbe/Yoruba/Igbo inspired language (because Volta-Niger languages are cool!). Spoken in the fictional West African country of Epyanwo ( Prong: Pyanŋ Wɔ̀).
(and yes, the flag is Ghana's turned counterclockwise.)
Prong is written in the African reference alphabet (basically a mix of IPA symbols and Latin alphabet characters).
Some features:
- Can be said to have no nasals, though it's more that they're not distinguished.
- Distinguishes /ɸ/, /β/, /f/, and /v/ (the /f/ and /v/ are fairly pronounced; distinguishing all three is pretty rare fyi)
- Mostly isolating, with little inflectional morphology.
- Tense/aspect distinction blurred.
- Borrowing from nearby Yoruboid, Gbe, and Igboid languages.
- Lacks passive voice, though a similar effect can be achieved through the changing of the transitivity of some verbs.
- Logophoricity!
- Triplication as an intensifier.
- Only two prepositions, as well as some major polysemy.
- Serial verb constructions!
