Soyagir is a language spoken as the main official and working language of the Norgasek Republic. It is an agglutinating language with very few irregular verb and noun forms. The infinitive is the only common non-finite verb form. It interestingly features Austronesian-type alignment with either SOV or OVS structure. There are two levels of politeness in pronouns, and a 3-way deixis system, with visibility encoded also. A number of copulas are used depending on the situation and no copula is used with adjectives. A single event and progressive/stative distinction is made on verbs.

Language family relationships
[edit] [view] Soyagir Kema Na (Keman Ikte)In certain parts of Kema, there is a specific dialect spoken of Ikte. This dialect features quite similar vocabulary, except many words are contracted, especially in everyday language. Also, most notably, Keman Ikte shows the beginning of the merger of the accusative and prepositional cases in the definite. In areas of Kema VI, "te" is the only definite article for the accusative and prepositional. Moraic timing is somewhat prominent in other areas of Kema.

Syllable StructureSyllables at its most basic level are (C)V(C)(T) where C represents a consonant, V represents a vowel, and T represents a stop/fricative/nasal. When a stop comes at the end of a word, another stop, nasal, or another fricative cannot come before the stop. There can be two simultaneous fricatives, stops, or nasals at the end of a word, but they cannot be articulated in the same place (so /b/ and /p/ cannot be simultaneous at the end of a word), and no nasals can follow each other at the end of a word. Double consonants are pronounced as if two separate syllables.
