Neo-Tocharian is a project that intends to somewhat faithfully reconstruct the Tocharian (B)/Kuchean language in a modern context. A large majority of the complexities of the original Tocharian B are kept intact such as:
- Masculine, Feminine and Neuter/Alternans genders, which affect the inflection of adjectives and certain determiners
- 7 noun classes
- 12 verbal present and subjunctive classes, and 6 preterite classes
- Active, mediopassive and causative distinction
However there are a few amendments that simplify or change certain parts of the language
- Simplification of the imperative verbal forms and the vocative nominal forms
- Simplification/standardization of verbal stress rules (however nominal stress rules are still unchanged)
