About Tevene
Tevene, in several registers, is the official language of the Tevinter Imperium and the most widely spoken language among its upper classes and in the northern half of the country. It is a very phonologically conservative descendant of Ancient Tevene, the ancester of the Tevene, Antivan, Orlaisian, and some Nevarran languages. Tevene is distantly related to Rivaini as well as the daughter languages of Alamarri and the now dead language family indigenous to Ferelden. It has numerous loanwords from Ancient Nevarran and from Rivaini, both of which have also impacted the phonology of the language.
The language as it is listed here is in Koine form, combining the Classical, Altene (aristocratic) and Soporatene (vulgar) registers, as it is very difficult to determine a proper glottochronology.
