About Vandalon Vandalon is the official language of Vandalia/Ventalie, a large country in Central Europe spanning what in our world corresponds to eastern part of France, Benilux and western part of Germany. It is also adopted as an official language in many of its former colonies. While Vandalon has gradually lost its status as primary international language during the XXth century, it remains one of the most widespread languages in the world.

It started simple. After a few wierdlangs with alien grammars and phonologies but lacking vocabularies, I've decided to take a short break and make something pretty standard: a Germanic Frenchlang. The rules were:

- It should look and sound like French; yet
- Whenever possible, a Germanic source is to be used;
- Sound changes from quasi-proto-Germanic should mostly follow sound changes in French;
- All Germanic borrowings in French are taken verbatim into Vantalîque;
- No Greek or Latin loanwords, unless they themselves are loans from some preferably non-Indo-European language. Why no? 4 teh gr8 justis!
- Aesthetics may override pedanticism.

With this rules applied and gradually refined, Vandalon now features:

- Fake French orthography with >95% words derived from Proto-Germanic
- 2½ genders, as, in addition to masculine and feminine, few nouns and a relative pronoun retained neuter gender
- horrible number system that becomes ever more absurd
- ???
- non-profit

What was planned as a short trip became a journey lasting for years. I think of all things I've been doing in my life, the greatest amount of time was devoted to Vandalonian.
