About Axerian
Current progress for  Axerian:

  • Redoing the language again. Once I hit 2000 words, I will be reworking the lexicon and working on the grammar system.
  • I am working on a comprehensive digital PDF guide to my language, complete with history, orthography, grammar, phonology, and a gamut of translations I did.

Viņaštárja, àvèlôr! | Viņaštárja, àvèlôr! | Welcome, traveler!

Axerian is my first serious conlang which I am working on for two years now. The language's main inspirations are Swedish and Hungarian, but also sharing the sounds as in Sindarin and Valyrian.

There is a unique feature which sets the language apart - a unique form of vowel harmony (bright and dim vowels), where vowels in a word can change position when conjugated. Consonants are also divided into (sonorously) sharp and blunt, conceptually based on how sun/moon consonants work in Arabic.

The orthography is an alphabet stylistically inspired by the Latin alphabet, but the letters were derived form the Hungarian runes. The language also has a hexadecimal-based system whose glyphs are derived from Ian James' SIGIL numerals.

I'm moving my language to ConWorkshop to help me build my grammar, orthography and lexicon, as well as to find inspiration for developing this language in the near future. Right now, this is one of two languages which I am working on - the other is an offspring of the English language - both spoken by the same race.

[view] Àxér Kýnami (Terran Axerian)Terran Axerian is spoken on Earth. Axerian has been present after a millennium after the race had colonized and coexisted with the Earthlings.

The dialect differs from Modern Axerian in the way they handle vowels. Vowels are now harmonized by backness and not by "brightness", and harmony affects either the whole word or parts of words. The language also has a substantial percentage of Latin and Greek vocabulary.

Syllable StructureCCGVVGCC (G is a glide /j, r, w, ɰ, l, r, ʎ, ɺ/). Any syllables within these constraints are acceptable.
Stress informationFirst syllable with long vowel or penultimate syllable where there is no long vowel. If the word has dim or neutral vowels, the antepenultimate long vowel syllable is stressed.
OtherLong consonants take up two consonant spaces at the joining points between syllables, or at the end of words.
Coronal consonants are considered sharp and the rest blunt. Sharp consonants assimilate the last letter of articles which is an important grammatical rule.
Retroflexion occurs when alveolar consonants follow r, in which case the consonant is substituted for its retroflex equivalent.
