About Tsimese
Nupe!

aka Hello!

Tsimese is more of a casual language for me. I decided to focus on more of the fun of conlanging. (Just to be clear, I have more vocab outside of CWS, and am in the process of transferring it.)

Some features:
- Nominative-Accusative, SOV (more or less), head-initial (again, more or less, but I suppose that goes without saying)
- Mostly prefixing and fusional, three tenses.
- Gender distinction only in pronouns, verbs are not inflected for gender, i.e., "he said" and "she said" are said the same way, but "he said to her" and "she said to him" are different.
- A LOT OF PREFIXES AND SUFFIXES FOR STUFF. Kinda. There's a lot of verb affixes that are separate from the verb, like perfective, hypothetical, etc. Also, a lot of affixes for the manner the thing was done in, i.e., quickly, slowly, on purpose, without thinking, it broke after you did it, etc.
- Stupid derivation. If you're looking at the vocab and seeing words for, I don't know, "way of saying", or "mouth shaped", that's because for every word I put in my dictionary, I try to derive stuff from it. Sometimes that's just one more word, other times it's 20.

Also, in case people were wondering what was going on with "cz" sometimes being pronounced "s", and "d" sometimes being "θ", Tsimese has a rule that voiced stops, so "b d g d͡z d͡ʒ", go to "ɸ θ x s ʃ" intervocalically. Yes, I know, you're screaming "Why are they devoiced?!" Honestly, I don't have an explanation for this, I just did this in the beginning for no reason and now decided to stick with it.
