About Colian
Colian is the mother language of the Colian languages, Colese, Dozian, Edievian, and Laendian. Colian had a hefty phonemic inventory and was a highly inflecting, with nouns divided into four classes (animate masculine, animate feminine, inanimate masculine, and inanimate feminine) and verbs conjugating for 3 persons (or 4, depending on how the 3rd person animacy split looked at) and two tenses. It was spoken in the plains of modern-day Romania and up into the Carpathians. By the end of Colian linguistic unity, it had absorbed words from Latin, Old Slavonic, Hungarian, and possibly Dacian.
Colian fractured as the Roman Empire collapsed, and by 1000 CE had formed several unintelligible languages. Most of these have gone extinct due to being absorbed by the speakers of other Colian languages or conversion to speaking Southern Slavic languages.
