About Cardassian
Cardassian is a language for the Star Trek Universe based heavily on cannon phonetic examples and pulling inspiration from the languages of the regions of the Earth cultures that inspired the Cardassian race.
My starting base was the Cardassian build seen here:: http://lcars.ucip.org/index.php?title=Cardassian_Language, which was, as stated, originally developed by Timothy Miller and Chris Pinette in 1995.
I have considerably altered most of this base, eliminating almost all Klingon influences, and changing the bulk of the grammar. The main things retained are aspects of the limited listed vocabulary, tense sufixes (which have been shuffled), definite article, numbers (so far), prepositions, and basic syntax. The possessive structure has recently been reworked.
I just want to be open and give credit where it's due! ^_^ This build was my inspiration to tackle giving the Cardassians a full, compete language, and though I disagreed with many of the choices made for that build, it provided me with a wonderful starting point and a framework on which to focus my own thoughts and ideas.
Original vocab from this build will be marked in my dictionary.
