About Enlahod
A work in progress language of the Enlahod, a bestial race nearing extinction. They are a relatively monotone people who show next to no emotion, who use their ears for emphasis. Those without ears that can do so tend to use the intonations, or the emotion in their own voices to show emphasis. There are five tones to do each with what 'emotion' they want to convey. I wanted to try my hand at a tonal language not truly involving tone as we know it, but as they interpret "intonation" and "emotion." Below is a general chart for how the tones are used for stress, as there is no actual written language- Enlahod are a race that uses oral stories to pass tradition.
Tone 1: Neutral, no inflection
Tone 2: Alert, exclamation
Tone 3: Curious, vexed
Tone 4: Wary, skeptical
Tone 5: Fear, hostility
Tone inflections are typically shown on the first vowel of the non-verb; if no other word is present, the next vowel in the verb is shown with the inflection instead. In actual conversation, it is implied by one of the ear positions below.
