About Edievian Edievian is an a priori language spoken in the Republic of Edievia, a concountry that is in Eastern Europe (on an alternate history Earth), or on the Šarkunen Peninsula (on the CWSP project's Sahar). The language survived both Latin- and Slavic-speaking invasions, and while the core of the language is composed of native words, there are significant amounts of loans and borrowings from Latin, Old Church Slavonic, Hungarian, south Slavic languages (particularly Serbian), Bulgarian, and Romanian. Edievian is also littered with some  Laefêvëši and  Nithalos loans from prolonged contact on Sahar before both countries disappeared.  Xynder and  Not Riyan loans also appear with lower frequency.

The language is VSO, adjectives following nouns, and has inflected prepositions for all pronouns. Nouns are relatively simple, with just single and plural forms, while verbs can take a host of fusional endings and prefixes for mood, negation, and voice. Derivation is common and there are many productive suffixes. Borrowings from other languages are always adapted to fit Edievian phonology, orthography, and morphology.

Edievian is written in the Latin alphabet, though it does have a Cyrilization (from Earth-version Edievia's past as USSR satellite state), and a traditional script that is nowadays used only ceremoniously or for an old-timey effect (though it's always included in official governmental communications).
