About Ghost Speech
Their origins are largely obscure. Both their name and the name of their language mean “ghost”, referring to their pale skin. It was a name given to them when they landed in Japan due to their unique appearance. However, through many years of intermarriage with the locals these distinctions have mostly disappeared. Although their origins and reason for migration are mostly unclear, their language comes from Old English. Despite the fact that much change to syntax and vocabulary has occurred in the millennium spent in Japan, it has largely retained a lot of its original Germanic grammatical properties. For example, the case system and the verbal system. According to oral accounts, they arrived around 900 AD, probably by accident on a number of strange ships from the west. However, the reason for their voyage and how they got to Japan have been lost to history. They entered initially through the port of Hiroshima but through persecution and migration have mostly ended up on the island of Shikoku, especially in the rural valleys of the interior.
