About Kuazhang
Kuazhang is the most widespread Matlic language, used as a lingua franca among the many peoples of Izovangia, and is also the sole official language used by the Izovangian government. As an Ydtobogan language, it's (distantly) related to other modern languages such as
Ythnandosian and
Potrenan.
Some features:
• Six cases (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive, instrumental, locative), two numbers (singular, plural), and three grammatical genders (masculine, feminine, neuter)
• Three tenses (non-past, past, remote past), three aspects (habitual, perfective, progressive), and five moods (indicative, subjunctive, conditional I, conditional II, potential, imperative)
• Ablaut usually in addition to normal declension in many nouns and adjectives
• An (over)abundance of irregular stems
• Differential argument marking
• Headache-inducing native script orthography
• Phonemic voicing contrast in fricatives and (much less extensively) stops, but only in some consonant clusters (and possibly loanwords)
• Syllable structure allows lots of different two-consonant clusters
• It's awesome
Kuazhang uses the Itamea script, which is or was used by most Ydtobogan languages.
Instead of the 1:1 transliteration system used for
Old Matlic, this language's romanization uses something more legible. However, this makes the romanization much less representative of the allophony and underlying morphophonology. Each word has a more "customized" 1:1 transliteration in the notes section, along with transliterations of selected forms to track irregularity.
