About Kudo Kudo (Kudo /kuðɔ/) is a modern language spoken by the island-dwelling people of Taado.
  • Fluid-S active-stative language.
  • SOV word order in general, VSO for questions.
  • No hard distinction between nouns and verbs.
  • Adjectives are also pretty verb-like.
  • Various mandatory classifiers for quantities of things.
  • Two degrees of both past and future tense. The distant tenses are most often used in storytelling, predictions, and promises.
  • Transitive verbs agree in marking with both agent and patient.
  • Generic locative/prepostional case can be further specified with words meaning inside of, in front of, etc.
  • Kudo spelling was never formally standardised after many sound changes, resulting in words being spelled historically or phonetically depending on location*.
  • Nouns, demonstratives, etc. are commonly used to politely refer to second and third persons.
  • Native writing system is a syllabary (WIP).
