About Old Seretian
A tradition-rich language spoken as a language of prestige by the educated population of a fictional state, Republic of Seretia. Spoken natively by roughly 500,000 people, mainly by aristocratic families, and as a second language by a further two million academics, government officials, and clergymen. In total, this amounts for about 1% of the nation's population. The name of the language "kha'Tagam" translates literally to "the Language", and reflects the claimed superiority many speakers of Old Seretian say to have over other languages. Old Seretian is the working language of the Seretian Senate - the flag of which is also considered a symbol of the language itself - as well as the language of high-level academic discourse, some government offices, religious texts, and many significant pieces of literature.
