About Mondolan
An alt-hist international auxiliary language (IAL) invented between 1889 and 1891 by Alexandre Leclercq, a French linguist and university professor. Created directly in response to an 1888 report by the American Philosophical Society that criticized the then-trending Volapük and set rules and guidelines for proper IAL creation, the language gained widespread popularity and garnered public and academic support that would last well into the 20th century. Despite Leclercq's modest goals, Mondolan eventually died out due to mismanagement from the movement's newer generations of leaders, who would eventually sully the language's appeal.
This started because I saw that paper and thought "wow. what would that look like"
