Hello, and welcome to the language of Metorjhvan!
Metorjhvan (Metorjhvan: Matežo) is a posteriori conlang. It is a Romance language spoken in many places where Metorjhvans are present, recognized as a minority language in Tardu, Arshamuzia, Likarenistan, Ertijystan, and Tejanakria. Metorjhvan is the official language of the Metorjhva Autonomous Republic in northwestern Likarenistan, and a co-official one in the Republic of Likarenistan itself.
It is disputed whether or not Metorjhvan is an Aarelo-Erumanjite language (more related to Semitic languages) or a fully Romance language. Metorjhvans have settled the region for centuries, but have been conquered numerous times by Aarellian empires such as the Tarduni Empire, Kingdom of Likar, Ardamani Empire, and a whole lot more. They were assimilated to become Aarellian people, adopting the culture and customs. This inevitably had a HUGE effect on the language. Grammar was reformed to be more similar to Aarellian, such as including the dual person and adopting common Aarellian phrases and terms.
Despite the influence from so many cultures, Metorjhvan still manages to keep a title as being a unique language of the Balkans and the rest of the Aarellian world.
