About Nefirian
Spoken by Nefirs (nepir), a race very similar to humans who live both amongst and separately from humans across the world known as Alumia. Nefirian in it's modern form has been spoken for a few hundred years with little variation or influence from human languages due to deliberate preservation for easy communication between speakers from different parts of the world. Dialectal and pidgin nefirian forms do exist, but are typically only spoken by small groups. as human languages have become more pervasive, it has declined in the number of fluent speakers dramatically, with less than half of all nefirs able to speak it at a proficient level. Nefirs who live among humans usually do not learn to speak Nefirian.
Fun Features:
- Agglutinative, well sort of not really. Loves affixes, but want you to know they are affixes. "See the apostrophe?" Nefirian tells you "it's not a true part of the word, just a little modifier tied on". You yell at nefirian: "but three or more apostrophes in one word is ridiculous! Just make them a part of the word or make them their own word!" but Nefirian ignores you, Nefirian has commitment issues
- Drops pronouns in context. Okay, drops Anything in context. Sure, if you were writing super formally you'd include it, but in speech and normal people writing? Sometimes afamily sentence is just verb
- Hates copulas. Fuck you, figure it out from context and word order. And if you can't figure it out then suffer because that sounds like a you problem and Nefirian doesn't care
- Word order is supreme. Drop whatever you like. Forget half the words, fuck up the affixes, but as long as that word order is right you're good to go baybee
[Please not that due to some conscript and orthography changes older forum posts and translations may be kind wonky]
