About Enar-Lentzic
The ancestor to Enari and Lentzic, Enar-Lentzic was likely derived from the northern end of the Proto-Enar-Cumainic dialect continuum prior to its speakers' emigration from western Iberia before 500 BCE. The language is poorly attested, with only a handful of fragmentary texts discovered beginning in the 1950s; these, however, have nonetheless proved invaluable in reconstructing the language.
Some of the changes from Proto-Enar-Cumainic:
Both the Lentzic and Enari alphabets descend from the Enar-Lentzic writing system, which in turn is ultimately derived from the Neo-Punic abjad introduced to Cumain by Carthaginian traders. Both the Enar-Lentzic and ancient Cumainesh alphabets were subsequently heavily influenced by Greek, most notably through the introduction of vowel characters.
Some of the changes from Proto-Enar-Cumainic:
- Loss of transitivity distinction in verbs (leading to the creation of a middle voice)
- Loss of several noun cases
- Loss of palatal consonants
- Conversion of auxiliary verbs into prefixes
