About Poanapian
Spoken in the northern portions of Edievia, east of the mountains, Poanapian tends to be lexically conservative while phonologically and grammatically innovative.
For many years, Poanapian was considered divergent variety of Laendish (and is still considered to be so by some, especially Laendish separatists who find that merging Poanapian with Laendish strengthens their independence argument), but it is best considered the northern edge of a dialect continuum that spans to 'standard' Laendish in the south.
Poanapian does not have number agreement in adjectives, and has lost the synthetic formation of comparatives and superlatives. It is the only Colian language to have redeveloped case-marking in pronouns, and uses the accusative for prepositions.

Current processes in the language:
- Merger of the nasal and lenition initial mutations, with the nasal being used more and more
- Colloquial varieties drop the present-tense copular particle "o", pushing the language further from VSO to SVO
- Final /e/ is pronounced as [ə], with final /a/ increasingly appearing as [ə] as well
- Initial /ʎ/ is shifting to [j]
