About Quemar
Technically, this is Revitalized Quemar, but I don't plan on making the original Quemari languages, so Quemar it is. Quemar is spoken in the same conworld as Sáharían, to which it is a completely unrelated neighbour; it and North Port have influenced each other extensively. It could be classified as either a Quemari language, or a Hlorasan one; in any case, there's very strong Hlorasan influence on the phonology and grammar. It uses an adaptation of the Hlorasan alphabet (though there is a standard way of writing it using the Sáharían alphabet).
Some features:
- Direct alignment, though some speakers are adopting Sáharían's Fluid-S system (mostly by separating the agent and object using OVS word order—the placement of the subject of an intransitive verb relative to the verb rarely signifies anything, unlike Sáharían)
- Fluid word order: VSO, VOS, SOV, OSV, and OVS are all used for plain, indicative sentences (though OVS is only used by Sáharían-influenced speakers).
- Vowel harmony (from Hlorasan): combination of rounded-unrounded and back-front.
- 14 cases, including the locative ones.
- 3 numbers: singular, plural, and collective.
