Syllable Structure(C)V
Stress informationKea exemplifies a moraic stress system. A syllable containing a short vowel is considered light and a syllable containing a long vowel is considered heavy. Stress falls on the heaviest syllable from the end of the word.

E.g. Kīata ['ki:.a.ta], Poīara [po.'i:.a.ra], Orā [o'ra:]

Otherwise, stress falls on the penultimate syllable.
OtherThere are no diphthongs (not even allophonically). There are also no over-long vowels (This changes in Kea's daughter languages, however). All consecutive vowels are pronounced distinctly from each other.

There is also moraic tone, all heavy syllables are high tones and all light syllables are realized as low tones.
